** the hunters have packed up and are surrounding him, walking along the path to firehold **

"Can you describe her now?" Blade asks.

Well, I guess you could call her pretty..she's got hair like fire, eyes as gray as a storm on the ocean, she's tall....lithe in figure..and she's very smart...she's young though, under the legal age of her hold by a few years...

"How old is that?"

fifteen...

"And her species?"

It's called firehold for a reason, she's a lizard-girl...salamander sub-type I think...

"Am I a gift, or a prize?"

A gift, from her parents for when she's older, Viera are her favorite subject.

"How long is that?" Blade asks.

only four years until she's allowed to start getting romantic, her parents are making her wait an extra year for some reason.

"And by then, I'll be twenty-three, and she'll be... Disappointed."

twenty-three? I was told you were already in your twenties.

oh right...I forgot that viera age at a 1/3 rate of human beings....

"Will I meet her before I become her gift?" He asks.

You become her gift the instant she lays eyes on you...

"Am I to be locked in a basement for four years?"

no, you're not to be caged like some zoo animal, you'll be given free-reign to go around their estate and occasionally you'll be running errands and stuff like that for four years...

"But I might meet her during that time..." Blade says.

That's the first thing you'll be doing.

"I don't understand... I will not become her gift for four years... I become her gift as soon as she meets me... Yet meeting her is the first thing I will do?" He asks.
