Re: Tower of Magi
Logan nods "And another thing would be an alteration of landscape to your advantage." He raises his hand and the walls disappear, once they do the ground beneath him literally raises up to form a large hill of dirt. "You can raise the land to gain a height advantage for archery, as a defensive wall against attacks, and as a great place to hide an ambush. You can also redirect the wind currents in your immediate vicinity to send certain projectiles back to the person who sent them at you." He lowers the mound back to it's normal state. "Not to mention this." He waves his hand and a small patch of land becomes a contained pool of lava "By mixing the earth in the immediate vicinity with a bit of fire and some air to cool it slightly, you can create lava. This can be used for traps, a defensive lake that the enemy will have to either find their way around, or resort to projectiles, which, as I've already mentioned, are little to no threat." He waves his hand again and water materializes from the air and falls onto the lava, causing it to harden back into earth again "Oh, and I forgot to mention, you can create water from the moisture in the air. Condense it with a minimal effort. Never forget that if you're trying to do any form of magic that involves water as a required component."

Re: Tower of Magi
"The water thing... Can't I also just make a lot of fire, then cool it? Fire makes water, right?"
Re: Tower of Magi
Logan shakes his head "No, you can't just make it out of the fire. if the fire in suspect is the intensified fires we use for our spells, it just heats up the air, the oxygen is burnt away and all that remains is the hydrogen in the air. That is explosive, especially around an open flame like the one you'd be using. So you'd essentially be making a blast from a tiny spark if the heat is overly intensified. If not, you're just making smoke."

Re: Tower of Magi
"What if I want to become a water mage, then? Should I carry around water-skins everywhere?" She realizes how useful her idea is.
Re: Tower of Magi
Logan nods "Yes, that would be a fairly convenient means of acquiring the resource you'd need. But you should still know how to pull the water out of the air, or simply pull it from your own body if your need is dire. But there is also another secret to water magic, something many of its practitioners find abhorrent. since the human body is made mostly of water, the contents of blood have also shown traces of water, so you can manipulate the flow of blood in the body to cause certain reactions. For example, forcing the flow of blood to stop reaching the brain for a minute will render the subject unconscious, but keeping it like that will kill them. The same goes with forcing the flow to a specific place, it's a challenging art but if you master it you'll be a challenge to stop unless you're facing someone who can think faster than you, and cast faster as well."

((Okay, now I'm definitely thunking of Katara.))
Myra avoids closing her eyes, keeping from imagining the thoughts going through her mind.

((I know, she popped up in my mind while I was typing it. And now for some more Avatar references veiled as a caster-archetype lesson XD))
Logan grins ever so slightly "Someone like me for example. I specialize in Air Magic, meaning I can be extremely fast if I want to, Wind Mages can outright beat even the fastest creatures in the world in speed. So take caution in choosing your opponents. Fire Mages are the most offensive, using their fires to destroy twice as powerfully as a Wind Mage, but not as quickly, both are not nearly as defensively focused as a Water Mage can be, and an Earth Mage is a Wind Mage's nightmare in terms of combat, they may be slower than us, but they're tough and their defenses tend to be very powerful as well as their attacks. But, in the end the two elements that tend to be the most often chosen are Fire and Earth. One for it's destructive powers, the other for its massive defensive capabilities. Don't forget this when you leave the tower, it could save you from dangerous people and devastating defeats."

Re: Tower of Magi
(("Wind mages? Like Vatti?"))
She thinks on what he just said. Water and wind are defensive... Fire and Earth are offensive... But a sharp icicle could be just as lethal as the sharpest knife. But otherwise, in battle, it is useless. Wind can kill as well... If one is strong enough, they may be capable of creating a tornado, and tear others to shreds. And fire can be used tactically to warn others, or create distractions. And stone... People make arrows from stone, and shelters from mud. By extension, life could be just an extension of water and earth.
"I believe I understand the use of everything now." She opens her eyes, looking to Logan. "If I can control everything,, I can help others. But the same thing will lead to my death."

Re: Tower of Magi
((Who is Vatti?))
Logan nods "Good, you understand things more easily than most. Now that you understand the potential applications for your power you need to understand your limits. You also need to understand which element is easiest for you to use so you can focus on it's opposite."

((Zelda four sword series antagonist))
She thinks. "I already can use wind and fire... A little bit... So, I should work on mud."

Logan nods "Good, focus on those two and understand them."

Re: Tower of Magi
((Holy crap, that was terrible spelling!))
((Also, I think I forgot the character's name... It's Myra, right?))
About a quarter of a centimeter of water gathers upon her hand.

((Yes.))
Logan nods and folds his arms across his chest, waiting.

Logan backs up a little as a precaution in case things go wrong.

Re: Tower of Magi
She closes her eyes tightly, feeling like quite the idiot. She takes the water from the ground, and combines it with the dirt.
Re: Tower of Magi
Logan continues to stand and wait, occasionally taking deep breaths to maintain his patience.
